Welcome to Kit Dalton Fine Art!
PLEASE NOTE: Ordering the 'museum wrap' canvas option is recommended because there are more frame choices available than for the other selections.
Kit Dalton, a native of Bucks County, Pennsylvania discovered her passion for creating art at a very early age, and won numerous contests for her poster design as early as grade school. At the age of 17, she won the Village Improvement Art Scholarship of the Doylestown Hospital, and attended Bucks County Community College in the Fine Art program. She earned her BFA Degree from Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, majoring in Graphic Design and Illustration.
She left the field of graphic design in 2005 and returned to her original passion of oil painting. She is known for her pure landscapes as well as historic structures of Bucks County- barns, bridges, covered bridges and the like. Among her favorite subject matters are the Delaware River and Towpath- intrigued by the beauty of the water, never tires of capturing the qualities of light and atmosphere. Another favorite theme is pathways, inspired by their mysteriousness and symbolism.
Her painting style is Contemporary Impressionism; with a loose but controlled feel to her work. In her studio she works from her own photographs, a jumping off point, using them strictly for reference. The finished paintings are developed by sketching and redesigning the composition as well as doing numerous value studies of the subject.
Kit also paints En Plein Air- and sometimes uses the painting studies to do more detailed and larger studio versions. Attracted to warm colors and bright light, she uses brushes and palette knives to apply the paint and achieve interesting textures and varied edges, on linen or canvas supports.
The most influential artists in her life have been Richard Schmid, Scott Christensen, and John F. Carlson. Kit also attends art workshops with renowned American painters- most recently having studied with modern master Hedi Moran; renowned for her floral still life works, Bob Rohm, Kenn Bacchaus and Dan Young; internationally renowned master American landscape painters.
Her paintings are in many private collections all across the USA.
